Acadia Nationaal Park, Maine – 2019 Een Eeuw Jaar Tranquility at Jordan Pond, Acadia National Park - Photo credit Susan Garver Photography from Maine   Acadia National Park  is een van de minder bekende parken en is bovendien nog redelijk klein ten opzichte van de bekendere Nationale Parken. En is hoofdzakelijk bekend bij de Amerikanen zelf en zeer druk gedurende de zomermaanden en ligt in het zuidoosten van de staat Amerikaanse staat Maine.  Het beschermt een groot gedeelte van Mount Desert Island en een aantal kleinere eilanden voor de Atlantische kust. Het gebied bestaat uit bergen, kustlijn, bossen en meren. Naast Mount Desert Island omvat het park een groot gedeelte van het Isle au Haut, een klein eiland ten zuidwesten van Mount Desert Island. It is also one of the oldest in the United States, based on the time they were officially "National Park". If I’m not mistaking it’s the no 14 of all the listed parks in the United States of America. It became a national monument on 11 January 1908 and a national park on February 26, 1919.  In 1979, the park was placed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO.
